The Mission Control Communications has picked up three separate Life and Health Science accounts since the World Health Organisation declared the COVID-19 outbreak a pandemic on March 12th.
The appointments all come at a time when pharmaceutical and biotech companies are not only adapting to a rapidly changing commercial landscape with new obstacles and expectations at each stage of the journey from lab to bedside but are also finding many of their mainstay communications channels interrupted.
Each of the wins, which include two European companies and one North American, sees The Mission Control work collaboratively with clients own inhouse marketing teams’ to devise and implement comprehensive through the line strategies for a wide range of engagements that address the challenges and opportunities in the market today.
James Killoran, The Mission’s Head of Strategy said, “We’ve worked very hard over the years to build an agency that is structured to solving the unique brand and business problems clients in this sector face. Picking up three international wins however is such quick succession and in the midst of a lockdown is still something of a coup.”
With the perception of pharma and medical companies soaring since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, the surge of wins for The Mission Control can be attributed to the agency’s understanding and ability to articulate across channels and regions that the companies they are working with are innovating for the good of all mankind.
The Mission is proud to note one of our longstanding clients has reached the finals of the CIM Marketing Excellence Awards in the new ‘Best Healthcare / Pharmaceutical Campaign’ category.
Best of luck to the team in London on April 2nd.

Compliance Management International (CMI) is the first of two account wins announced this week by The Mission Control Communications. The news follows an intensive month of pitching and presentation work that saw The Mission go head to head with two North American agency groups.
It is understood that in the first instance, The Mission will be working with CMI, headquartered in North America, to create a design package for the company’s core business-to-business activities that will form an indispensable tool for employees world-wide.
James Killoran, Head of Strategy at The Mission Control said: “As a company that already has a Fortune 500 client base spanning Manufacturing, Utilities, Insurance, Electronics, Chemical, Pharmaceutical, Transportation, Technology and Government, we’re looking forward to working with CMI to build on that global reputation”.
In its second win of the week, The Mission Control Communications has been appointed to work with the Strategic Investment Board (SIB) to develop a digital visualisation and copywriting strategy that will clearly communicate the organisational values and objectives of a government body to internal and external audiences.
We’re delighted to welcome the newest member of our team, Paul McCallan to The Mission Control. Paul joins the design studio and brings with him a wealth of branding, animation and illustration experience working with clients including the Scottish Government. Thrilled to have him on board! #design #branding #illustration #motiongraphics #editing #themissioncontrol #newface
Some behind the scenes shots from a corporate video that we were working on that featured a cast of more than 50 people and one of the best production teams we’ve had the pleasure of working with.
Great experience and a very hands on client marketing team to assist.
Looking forward to big reveal.
We’re delighted to announce that following a four-way competitive pitch, we’ve won the Kingspan Insulation (Ireland) creative account.
The win will see us working with the brand’s marketing team on a variety of cross platform projects.
Kingspan Insulation remains one of the most successful and iconic Irish brands and we look forward to helping reinforce that position.
Last week we met with a client in the South of Ireland. There’s nothing unusual about that – in-fact we do it all the time. We cross borders daily without even noticing they are there – physically and digitally.
Yet as we made our way North – the realisation that in just over 40 days our freedom to travel and trade with our closest neighbour could be snatched away made us stop and think.
For years we have all taken our freedom to cross not only the north – south border for granted, but our freedom to travel and trade anywhere in Europe unhindered. That’s a lot to be expected to give up when we still haven’t had a clear plan for the future from the powers that be.

This year, The Mission Control Communications won 2 Gold at the event in New York, making it the most awarded agency in its category.
The UK based agency picked up Gold in the Integrated Campaign Business to Business category and Gold in the Integrated Campaign Marketing Effectiveness category for a US Technologies company.
James Killoran, head of strategy at The Mission Control Communications, said: “We worked really closely with the client’s marketing team on this project and I think that’s evident in the result. The fact that the campaign has been recognised not once, but twice by an international panel of judges proves that it is possible for an agency and an in-house team to not only work side by side, but to do so, successfully.”
Both wins follow the announcement last week that The Mission Control Communications has signed a strategic alliance to formally extend capabilities with US company – Signifi – providing the agency with a permeant base of operations in the United States.

Hudson, NY. After months of planning, Signifi founder Dr. Joseph Bedford confirmed today that the United States based strategic marketing and branding agency has entered into a strategic alliance with European marketing, branding and communications consultancy The Mission Control Communications to extend and align skillsets, talent and resources worldwide. The alliance announced today will see both companies consolidate an already highly effective relationship that has spanned more than a decade.
The alliance empowers both firms to take advantage of complementary skill sets for the benefit of clients. Whereas Signifi has specialized expertise in helping companies with strategy, branding, sales and marketing effectiveness, and the customer experience, The Mission Control Communications has the ability to deliver world-class support for marketing, branding, product launch and other communications campaigns. Together, these two agencies offer life science companies, such as Contract Research Organizations, a viable alternative to existing firms that do not have the subject matter expertise or strategic capabilities offered by the alliance of Signifi and The Mission Control Communications.
Dr. Bedford comments on the alliance, “Signifi exists to offer key decision makers at Contract Research Organizations and other life sciences companies access to a level of specialized expertise that few other firms possess. Our alliance with The Mission Control Communications enables Signifi to offer its clients a turnkey solution to support branding, marketing and other promotional campaigns. I’ve worked with James Killoran and The Mission Control Communications for over a decade on a variety of branding and marketing campaigns. They consistently addressed my needs while I was running marketing departments at CROs worldwide, so I am very confident they will deliver that level of excellence to Signifi’s clients.”
James Killoran, Head of Strategy at The Mission Control Communications said, “This moment has been more than 10 years in the making, so today is significant for all involved. The combination of Joe’s experience in running marketing and strategy programs from a client perspective at major CRO’s, coupled with our own ability to effectively deliver on those program needs as a creative agency and partner, makes this a relationship that is built on proven outcomes and trust.”
With further announcements on alliances planned over the coming months with notable research, technology and public relations agencies, as well as experienced life science marketing and sales consultants, today’s announcement lays the foundation to a core agency structure that will transform the marketing landscape for life science companies on both sides of the Atlantic and beyond.
Signifi helps clients improve commercial performance by focusing on four of the most important aspects of their businesses: Strategy, Branding, the Customer Experience (CX) and Marketing and Sales performance. Emboldened by a customer-centric philosophy, Signifi provides clients the kind of personalized attention, experience and specialized expertise required to succeed in these four crucial areas of their businesses.
